Time just seemed to pass so fast during the ride from one end of Singapore to the other end of Singapore, as Ai Jing, Yi Wen, Andrew and I were chatting throughout the journey. The time for us to report at Terminal 1 was 5:45am; however we reached there earlier, MUCH earlier than expected.
We went to queue at the group check-in counter along with our huge luggage. All of us were excited about checking in and discussing what did we bring inside the luggage. Since there was some time before boarding plane, we went to have our morning breakfast with our friends and family members who were there to send us off.
Ai Jing had gone through an effort to make a small gift to everyone who is going to the Overseas Immersion Programme! [Insert HIGHLIGHTER AND CARD PHOTO]. After our breakfast, we started walking to Gate 8 and start bidding farewells to our friends and family. Some of them hugged and cried, it’s possible to see that our family members cannot bear to see us going overseas alone without them.
We started boarding the plane and got into our seats. Minutes after the light of ‘buckle your seatbelt’ is off, we started taking out our laptop and started watching movies on it. There was an unforgettable moment when Tien Ying, Tresca and Jonathan was watching a horror film. The sudden thriller of the ghost appearing had shocked the 3 of them. While Tien Ying’s scream had shock the rest of the people on the plane! We burst out laughing after seeing each other reactions.
When we reached Guang Zhou, the first sentence that came out from most of our mouth was ‘Wha Shiok! Freaaaaaking cold!’ And we continue to discuss about how the weather at Tian Jin would be.
Since we’re changing planes at Guang Zhou, we went to have our lunch as our next flight is 3hours away.
The food at Guang Zhou airport was not suitable to our taste, I guess it will be hard for us to adapt if we were to stay here for 5 weeks.

After lunch we started checking in, we were 1hour earlier. None of us knew that we were at the wrong place until we felt something is amiss after 40minutes and the gates were still closed. As the standard protocol was, starting to let people board the plane half hour before. We went to ask one of the receptionists and found out we were all at the wrong location. All of us started panicking and ran to the correct location. The run seemed endless; everyone was running all their might from one end to the very end. We made it in boarding the plane. It was such a close call that we almost missed the flight. After boarding the plane, all of us fell into deep sleep. Most likely feeling exhausted after the exercise.
‘Dear passengers, the plane had safely touched down to Tian Jin Airport, thank you for taking this ride with China Southern’ announced the PA system. We were so excited to fill the chilly air of Tian Jin, we were practically rushing ourselves out of the airport after claiming our luggages.
We had a taste on how chilly the weather can be in Tian Jin, especially in the night. We had to walk quite a long distance from the airport to our coach. It was an half hour ride from airport to our hotel. After we settled the admins of checking in to the hotel and put our luggages, we went to have our supper/dinner at 红蜡烛. We had ordered lots of food to eat, the foods were not bad!
